Operations Director

Represents the interests of those operating and possibly maintaining the project products. The Operations Director role must have the authority to commit or acquire Operations resources required..

Specific Responsibilities

Agree objectives for specialist activities

Make sure that progress towards the outcome remains consistent from the Operations perspective

Promote and maintain focus on the desired project outcome from the point of view of Operations management

*

Ensure that the Operations resources required for the project are made available

*

Contribute Operations opinions on Project Board decisions on whether to implement recommendations on proposed changes

*

Resolve Operations requirements and priority conflicts

*

Arbitrate on, and ensure resolution of any specialist priority or resource conflicts

*

Brief non-technical management on operational aspects of the project.

The Operations Director is responsible for the operational integrity of the project. The operational assurance role responsibilities are to:

Advise on the selection of operational strategy, design and methods

*

Ensure that any operating standards defined for the project are met and used to good effect

*

Monitor potential changes and their impact on the correctness, completeness and integrity of products against their Product Description from an operational perspective

*

Monitor any risks in the operational aspects of the project

*

Ensure quality control procedures are used correctly so that products adhere to operational requirements.

If warranted, some of this assurance responsibility may be delegated to separate specialist assurance personnel.
